From blogs to streaming video, the Web can be a great way to get firsthand accounts of news from around the world.
According to the National Institute for Technology and Liberal Education, there are nearly three million blogs on the Web-many of which are news related. Similarly, about 14.2 billion streaming videos were added to the Web in one year alone, according to AccuStream iMedia Research.
Streaming news reports can be found at sites such as www.pbs.org/frontlineworld. The site features multimedia stories that are companion reports for stories that air on the popular PBS show "FRONTLINE/World."
The site also includes a weekly online-only streaming video series called "Rough Cuts" and other reports that feature a mix of videos, text-only dispatches and slide shows from around the world.
