Car floor mats can keep the car clean by protecting the flooring from the usual day-to-day wear such as spills and dirty shoe soles. Choosing a good car floor mat Car floor mats are available in many shapes, sizes, and in various materials, and choosing from among them can get confusing. Here are some quick tips. Choose darker colors. Car floor mats with darker colors are far easier to maintain because stains and other discolorations are not very visible on them. They also don't fade as easily, because you don't have to scrub or wash dark-colored car floor mats as often as you would the light-colored versions. Dark colors (especially black) are also more versatile than other colors - they go with any color seat cover. Choose sturdy materials. Car floor mats should be made of heavyweight composition rubber (which is easier to clean) or interwoven nylon yarn of super heavy density for it to withstand wear and tear. When buying a nylon car mat, always go for the thick mat - they come in handy when water and other liquids need to be absorbed and dried up quickly. A thin rubber mat may not hold the water much and, hence, result in a big mess. A thick rubber mat, mainly made for the bad weather, has deeper grooves that enable it to hold water, ice, and mud better. Reminder: A nylon car mat may look nice and can absorb the water well, but it also has its disadvantages. It leaves the car floor more exposed. Although it soaks water, it dries very slowly. If the water or liquid spilled is more than two cups, then it will flow around and may cause mold or corrosion to your car's flooring. |
